Video: Stop The Chaos – Build A Life
In a world that often feels uncontrollable, where the weight of past struggles and the uncertainty of the future loom over us, it’s easy to feel anxious, lost and exhausted. But what if I told you that the power to change your life lies in the palm of your hand, or more accurately, at the tip of your pen? This isn’t just a theory; it’s a practice that transformed my life from the inside out, during a time when darkness seemed to envelop everything around me.
My journey to this realization began when I was 18. Despair had clouded my judgment to the extent that I believed ending my father’s suffering through drastic measures was the only solution. His mental health struggles had made life for my mother and siblings unbearable. Thankfully, God intervened, and dad received the medical attention he needed, and I was in a counselor’s office, where I would learn a lesson that would redefine my understanding of responsibility and the power of daily actions.
During our second session, after pouring out the pains and challenges of my home life, my counselor did something unexpected. He showed me his blank notepad, revealing that he hadn’t written down a single word I had said. The message was clear: despite the chaos of my past, each day presented a new, blank page for me to write upon. This metaphorical blank sheet wasn’t just about forgetting the past but about taking active responsibility for the present and future.
The lesson was profound. We are all authors of our own lives, with the freedom and responsibility to choose what goes on our daily page. This isn’t about ignoring the past or the factors outside our control; it’s about focusing on what we can control: our words, actions and reactions. Every day is a fresh start, a blank sheet where we decide what story we want to write. And at the end of the day, this sheet goes into the binder. That binder is our life which we build, one day at a time.
This realization was a turning point for me. It taught me the importance of owning my day, of starting each morning with a personal meeting where I set the tone and agenda for the hours ahead. This daily ritual became my anchor, enhancing my creativity, regulating my emotions, and sharpening my decision-making. It was a time to reflect on yesterday and plan for today, ensuring that each day was lived with intention and purpose.
For those who share my faith, incorporating God into this daily meeting added another layer of depth. Handing the pen over to Jesus each day, so to speak, meant entrusting Him with the script of my day, confident in the knowledge that His plans are always greater than mine. This act of faith transformed my life from a series of reactive responses to a proactive journey of growth, learning, and purpose.
As I share this practice with you, my hope is to inspire you to see each day as a precious opportunity. An opportunity not just to survive but to thrive. An opportunity to turn the binder of your life into a testament of growth, resilience, and purpose. It starts with a simple yet powerful habit: a daily check-in with yourself or with God, reflecting on yesterday and planning for today.
So, I invite you to join me in this practice. Take a few minutes each day to sit in quiet reflection, to plan, to pray, and to set the course for your day. This small investment of time can dramatically alter the trajectory of your life, one day at a time. It’s a journey worth taking, a habit worth forming, and a gift to yourself that will keep on giving.
As we move forward, I’ll share tools and strategies to deepen this practice, to make each day not just another page in your binder but a meaningful chapter in the beautiful story of your life. Let’s embark on this journey together, one day at a time, and witness the transformation that awaits.
